Understanding waitlist codes & confirmation probabilities

If tickets are not available, you will see waitlist statuses. Here is what they mean:

  • GNWL (General Waitlist): Highest confirmation probability. These tickets are issued for passengers boarding at the originating station.
  • RLWL (Remote Location Waitlist): Moderate confirmation probability. Issued for intermediate stations along the route.
  • PQWL (Pooled Quota Waitlist): Low confirmation probability. Shared between multiple smaller intermediate stations.

How to check availability on Rail 24

  1. Open Check Availability.
  2. Enter train number, from station, to station, and journey date.
  3. Select your class and quota (GN for General, TQ for Tatkal, LD for Ladies).
  4. Click Check Availability to see current seat count and waitlist position.
