A waiting list (WL) in PNR means your berth is not yet confirmed. GNWL is general quota waitlist from origin; RLWL is from a remote station; TQWL is Tatkal waitlist. If WL does not clear before final chart preparation, you cannot board — check live PNR on Rail 24 regularly.

WL in PNR shows your position in the queue for a berth. Different waitlist types (GNWL, RLWL, PQWL, TQWL) depend on quota and boarding station.

Common waitlist codes

  • GNWL — general waitlist from train origin.
  • RLWL — remote location waitlist.
  • PQWL — pooled quota waitlist.
  • TQWL — Tatkal waitlist (often does not clear).
